I managed to grow this inner variegated Hoya bella into a pretty big specimen in an 8 inch hanging basket, but all was not well with it. Over the last couple of months it had begun dropping three to four leaves a week. I have found in my nearly 20 years of growing these Bella that leaf drop is the kiss of death for them. There is no really good way of pulling them back from it, and picking up dead leaves is a particular sore spot of mine – I can’t stand it! So I took the plant outside, and took these last photos of the plant, took a few cuttings and tossed it into the garbage. There was definitely some root rot issues going on with it; we will see if I can get it going again. I find as the years go by, I am having a lot less patience with plant problems, and it is many times just easier to pitch the plant.
