My balaensis cutting came from aleyagarden in Thailand in April of 2012.  I believe it is the species type that comes from Hara Bara, Narathiwat province, Thailand.  This beautiful plant could be grown only for its lovely large heart-shaped leaves, which can be as wide as 6 inches across.  The flowers are a huge bonus.  The plant roots and grows easily in my conventional light, chunky, potting mix.  This Hoya was first described in 2007 so it is relatively new to the hobby.   It flowered 20 months from starting the cutting.
