The “Sixteener” is Open!

My Hoya macgillivrayi peduncle with 16 buds is now open.  Here is my secret to growing this Hoya: Greenhouse for 3 months in the summer to build up energy; inside with (12 hour) supplemental lighting for 9 months; water when needed.

Hoya Seedling News

My Hoya pubicalyx “Red Buttons” seedlings now have their first real leaf.  I will be transplanting them tomorrow, and will post photos soon.  My H. heuschkeliana seed pod burst two days ago.  I was able to plant around 15 seeds.  It will be interesting to see what comes of these seedlings.  The pod was on the yellow variety; but I keep both yellow and pink in the same pot.  It would be neat if there was a cross of some kind.  If the seeds are viable, it will probably take a year to make the determination.

First Time Bloom with New Clone of H. macgillivrayi

This is a clone of H. macgillivray that I received from Carol Noel a few years ago in a Hoya Co-op.  It has a white center and I suspect it could be IML 0015 Langkelly ck. Qld from the Liddle Nursery in Australia.  Once again a 12 hour light cycle seems to have induced this “Big Mac” to bloom.
