I have just uploaded a new Tour Video of Hoya serpens to You Tube. I think it should give you a slightly better idea of what the plant is like compared to a still photograph. Hope you enjoy it! The link is highlighted below.

A Few Words About Root Rot
Lately I have dealt with more cases of Root Rot than I have seen in over two years! I have been seeing complete root rot in both plant trades and purchases that I have made recently. I advise everyone when receiving starter plants to pop them out of their pot and look for thread like roots or roots that lose their outer layer easily when scraped with your thumbnail. Don’t even fool around with them! Snip the entire root ball off with scissors and re-root the remaining stem. Believe me; you will end up with a growing healthy plant at least five times faster by going this route (no pun intended!) I will be posting a new Learning How Production very soon on how I make my own potting mix. These really loose, chunky, airy mixes are crucial to good root health in a Hoya.
New Learning How Production
Yesterday I posted a new Learning How Production to You Tube entitled: Hoya praetorii The Cutting Experiment or Are You Ready to Try Semi-Hydro Now? Here is the link:

There are three new Learning How Video Productions in various stages of completion: Making My Hoya Potting Mix, Re-potting the Severely Root-bound Hoya, and Hoya praetorii – The Cutting Experiment. Finally there are two new Time-lapse videos: One on Hoya pachylada and another on Building a Potting Bench. In addition to the videos, there will be periodic postings on various topics of interest and some great new photos; so stayed tuned!

Coming Soon and Other Cool Stuff
Tomorrow I will be posting a new Learning How Production titled How to Re-pot a Hoya Plant. There won’t be a lot there for you veterans, but if you are new to Hoyas, or houseplants you will probably pick up a few tips. Now for something really cool: The Mona Lisa done with a mosaic of 1,000 Hoya photographs. More on this process to come soon. I hope that you feel that this Hoya Blog is anything, but boring!
Second “Learning How Production” Has Been Uploaded to You Tube
Here is my second “How To Video.” It shows how I use the Potlifter to move large Hoyas into the shower to clean off the dust. I also use this device to move my big plants from the house to the greenhouse when summer rolls around. Here is the link:
My First How To Video Is Now Posted On You Tube
My first in what I hope will be a number of “How To Videos” has now been Uploaded to You Tube. All of these videos will be housed under the top heading, or section titled: Learning How Productions. My first attempt is 22 minutes long; it is a bit clumsy, but I think that there may be a few pointers that can be picked up. The title is called How to Grow Hoyas the Semi-Hydro Way. Hopefully it will be instructive. Without Further ado:
