As is so often the case, Hoya lambii was named after one of it discoverers.  In this case it was Anthony Lamb.  This plant is extremely rare in its native habitat of Sabah in Malaysia, and may very well not exist in the wild much longer with the massive deforestation occurring in many of the world’s rain forests.
