David Cumming discovered this wonderful plant near Estrella Waterfalls in Palawan, Philippines.  I’ve often wondered about this man that had a Hoya named after him – Hoya davidcummingii.  It turns out that David M. Cumming was a Scottish medical technician, amateur botanist, and plant breeder who lived in Australia from 1962-1994 where he established the Silky Oaks Nursery.  This information came from Etymological Dictionary of Succulent Plant Names.
