The Two “P’s”

Here are a couple of niffty photos I took this morning of Hoya patella and Hoya praetorii blooms showing the contrasts in size and color between the two.

Big Hoya Leaves

Hoya latifolia is called the “Dinner Plate” Hoya for a reason.  Here is a photo showing one of the leaves against a measuring tape.  The Width in 7.25 inches and the length is just over nine inches.

Seed Pod On My Red Buttons!

Since my Hoyas are mostly grown inside for nine months of the year and then in a small greenhouse for 3 months, I very seldom get a chance to have my flowers pollinated.  This is only the second time that it has happened and the first where I spotted the seed pod before it burst open.  I’m sure that some type of Moth was the pollinator, because my small tent greenhouse was full of them all summer long.  Here is the photo of my Hoya pubicalyx ‘Red Buttons’:
