Took a while, but H. callistophylla has finally bloomed! Here is the photo. I bloomed it only because I gave it enough growing time using the grow tent to extend my usual short six week season. In past years, after I brought the plant in from the greenhouse, it would go dormant for 10 months of the year. By extending the growing season, it gave the plant a chance to flower.

Is a Grow Tent Right For You?
Is a Grow Tent Right For You? It just might be! Most people do not have a spare room to convert into a grow room like me, but might have the room for this nifty little grow tent. It will set up in a flash in the corner of most any room or even inside of a closet. You will get 8 square feet of prime gardening space where every condition can be controlled including heat, humidity and light. The unit comes complete with an HO t-5 four-tube fixture, fans, and a digital temp/hum read out. It will set you back around $350 including the shipping, but if you want to grow and bloom some of the more challenging species, it might be worth the money. After all, how much have you already spent on some of these plants?
