Below is a flower that I cut from one of my Hoya imperialis plants that has flowered nine months from taking a small cutting. My old record was 14 months. It does not seem to be a fluke either as my three plants are literally dripping with buds.
Hoya mirabilis Keeps On Flowering
Here is another flower of Hoya mirabilis, which keeps on flowering in the darkest month of the year in a North window.
Water Rooting Day Three
The biggest thrill with my water rooting experiment was getting the all white Hoya bella to root, when most all of my previous attempts with conventional methods failed quite miserably. As seen in the video, one of the cuttings developed a peduncle, and as of this writing, the buds are still growing nicely now that it has been transplanted into soil. Below the mind blowing results of my water rooting experiment with H. vitellina:
Water Rooting Day Two
Here are a couple of photos of the roots on Hoya vitellina after 35 Days. I used to water root spider plants about 40 years ago, but never tried it on Hoyas. When I got into Hoyas all of the “experts” at the time sort of poo pooed it, so I dismissed it as well – big mistake!!
Three Days on Water Rooting Hoyas
This is the most popular YouTube video that I have made in sometime. I think it is interesting to folks because most people are always looking for the easy way to do something – myself included.
Hoya wallichii Continues to Vex
Hoya wallichii is definitely not for the beginning Hoya enthusiast; it is maddeningly difficult to grow and getting photos of the flowers fully opened is almost impossible. I guess it could be done by getting up at 3:00 am, but so far I’m unwilling to do that. Below are my attempts to open up what I think is my 3rd or 4th flower to make it to maturity:
One More Day With Hoya soligamiana
It took me a considerable amount of time to take these new photos of Hoya soligamiana; so I think that it is worth one more look!
Hoya soligamiana Just Keeps on Flowering
One of my favorite Hoyas from the Philippines, Hoya soligamiana just keeps on flowering:
In Praise of Hoya mirabilis
I have completely changed my opinion of Hoya mirabilis Clone B after growing it in a hanging pot in the regular house. I used to grow this one in semi-hydro where it dripped so much nectar that it was unmanageable. Now growing it in my regular mix, in the much drier house, it doesn’t seem to drip at all. A fabulous plant that everyone should own. Grows well and flowers even with very little light as can be seen below.
Final Day with Hoya imperialis Palawan
What can I say, I love Hoya imperialis, and it was a thrill to bloom my third clone of the plant. It only took 19 months after I had the right system in place to flower this wonderful Hoya, and if you have the room, I can heartily recommend it to every one!
