I think that everyone who grows Hoyas should have at least one Dischidia in their collection. It is an underdog because of its small flowers, but in a world of miniatures it is at the top of the heap!
Taking these photos with my extreme close-up lens is a lot of work. The lens is extremely difficult to use, and frankly not much fun. Just finding the image in the lens can take 10 minutes or more. Just setting up the equipment takes 15 minutes, so you are looking at a around 30 minutes before you get your first shot.
Around two years ago I was able to obtain this plant again from a Hoya friend in Florida – Thanks MJ! This time around I am only watering when this thing is bone dry, and keeping it at high humidity. The flowers are extremely tiny and I have always wanted to take some good photos of them. Here is the best that can be achieved with my point and shoot. Tomorrow I will begin a series of photos taken with my MP-E 65mm f2.8 Manual Focus lens.
