Hoya micrantha is an example of a plant that can be saved from root rot by doing nothing except waiting for a really long time for new growth and flowers. I think that I waited close to two years for this plant to start growing and flowering again. I don’t recommend this method to anyone, and I only did it because I was too lazy to restart from cuttings. Here are the buds with a couple of flowers just starting to open:

It is a slow time of the year here without much flowering, but when I walked into the grow tent this morning I was overwhelmed with the sent from these small flowers.

I got rid of this plant five years ago, because believe it or not, it actually flowered too much, and the nectar of the flowers dripped all over everything making a mess. I plan to keep it around for quite awhile this go around as you can’t have too many easy to grow Hoyas, and this one fits that category, and it is beautiful!

Here we are celebrating another Christmas! I want to take the opportunity to wish all those who celebrate it a heartfelt Merry Christmas 2021. While I did not seek this plant out, I am very thankful to have it, and the flowers of H. ilagiorum really fit the day I think!

Since it has been so long since I have had this Hoya we will spend a few days with it, and I will explain why I took the plant out of my collection a number of years ago.

A few days ago I showed a plant that I was excited to flower called Hoya Russell. Well it has now flowered, and it turns out that it came mislabeled and really was H. ilagiorum. I do not blame the sender at all as I am sure that she received the plant labeled incorrectly and never had a chance to see it flower before she sent the plant to me.

The upside of the mistake was that I have not had H. ilagiorum in at least five years so it is nice to have it back for awhile!

Hoya amicabilis is not the easiest Hoya to grow. In one of the many times that I started this plant over, I took a tiny cutting and put it with Hoya lithophytica in a tiny clear cup in homemade Pon. The plant is still very tiny, but it is alive and just flowered even at its diminutive size.
