Final Day with Hoya sp. VN Vietnam

Hoya sp. VN Vietnam is a fantastic plant, and while I’ve only had it a short time, it has won a place in my heart.  It is fairly easy to grow, with wonderful foliage and lovely flowers.  Hopefully it will soon be more widely available as it really deserves to be grown by everyone who loves the Hoya genus.

I’m Looking For More Information on Hoya sp. VN Vietnam

I don’t do Facebook, but if any of you that read this blog is on Facebook, and is a friend of Ric Morier, I would appreciate it if you asked him about the history of Hoya sp. VN Vietnam.  I can always be contacted through YouTube. It is always nice to be able to know a little about where a plant comes from and the conditions under which it was found.

The Foliage of Hoya sp. VN Vietnam

I especially love the leaves on this plant.  They are really quite different and really unlike anything that I have had to this point.  They get a lovely reddish brown color in really strong light, and are glabrous and lightly scalloped.

Growing Hoya sp. VN Vietnam

Hoya sp. VN Vietnam rooted quickly as a cutting and I used a series of net pots, transplanting from one to another as needed.  It is currently in a four inch net pot.  The plant does not use a great deal of water and has always live under artificial conditions with 14 hours of lighting per day with very warm and humid conditions.

Hoya sp. VN Vietnam Came From Ric Morier

I bought Hoya sp. VN Vietnam as a cutting from Ric Morier in an eBay sale in the early summer of 2018. I suspect that this is a Hoya that he brought back with him from his travels to Vietnam. I also believe that this Hoya is fairly rare as the asking price was $28 for an unrooted cutting, which for Ric is a lot of money. Below the entire plant:

Pretty On Pink

Here is a fully opened Hoya wallachii flower on a pink background. The plant is now flowering regularly, but the plant looks like #!@%
