Hoya maxima Yellow Corona Was One Of The Most Difficult Hoyas To Flower
If you’ve read about my flowering of Hoya maxima Red Corona, you know about all of the travails that I have faced over the years trying to flower an imbricate Hoya. When I describe all of the expense and difficulties, I am really talking about this particular plant that you see below that I first bought from Gardino’s back in 2014. The Red variety took less than 18 months to flower; the yellow took 5 years!
Let’s Move On To Hoya maxima Yellow Corona
I’ve been continually blessed over the past few months with flowering Hoyas that I thought I might never flower. Hoya maxima Yellow Corona definitely falls into that category.

Growing Hoya bicknellii Part Two

Growing Hoya bicknellii Part One
I grew Hoya bicknellii as a hanging plant for about a year when I decided that it would work far better as a trellised upright. I transplanted it into a glazed clay pot and it has lived there ever since.

Hoya bicknellii Is Very Similar To Hoya benitotanii
Hoya bicknellii seems very similar to Hoya benitotanii. To make things even more interesting both plants were discovered by the same person in the same geographic area of the Philippines. Below are photos of the flowers of both plants with Hoya benitoanii on top and Hoya bicknellii on the bottom.

Hoya bicknellii Was Named For Its Discoverer
Hoya bicknellii was published in 1999 and named after its discoverer David Bicknell.
