Hoya inflata 2015 Update Video

For those of you who like to see plants in motion, here is my video update on Hoya inflata for 2015.  I explain how I changed my watering routine and show you where and how I bloomed this species seven months from cutting.

A Visit with Hoya acicularis

From last June here is a video introduction to Hoya acicularis.  This plant actually flowered because it was dying of root rot at the time of the video.  There is a strange phenomenon with certain Hoyas, in that they will often times flower right before going belly up.  Hoya acicularis fall into this category of Hoyas.

Just the Flowers Ma’am! Hoya mirabilis

Here is my newest time-lapse video using Hoya mirabilis as a subject.  I think it shows how really sweet this flower is.  I keep making these time-lapses even though they are the most work of any of my videos and on the whole get the fewest views.  I do it because they open up an entirely unseen world that can be both instructive and phenomenally beautiful.

Just the Flowers Ma’am! Hoya hypolasia

This time-lapse video is my first and probably last reverse time-lapse.  Since I was afraid of shining a light on the peduncle of buds 24/7 to make the movie for fear the buds would drop, I shot 443 photos of the open flowers until they faded and closed up.  I then had to take each photo and reverse number them ( #443 becomes #1, #442 becomes #2 etc.), in order to make it appear that the flowers were opening for the first time.  It took at least 2,000 mouse clicks to make it all happen.  Probably won’t do it again, but here is my little time-lapse of the flowers appearing to open for the first time on Hoya hypolasia:

A Visit with Hoya sp. DS-70

From my archive of unpublished videos here is a visit with Hoya sp. DS-70 from 2012.  It shows two plants; one I received as Hoya burtoniae and the other as DS-70.  I believe that they are the same plant.  Regardless of what they are, there is probably no easier to obtain, easier to grow, or a Hoya that can give as much joy as Hoya sp. DS-70!
