Right after I took these photos, an overnight rain soaked the root ball and saucer; almost immediately the plant went into a massive decline, and I needed to take cuttings in order to save it.  The moral of the story is to remove all saucers when putting your plants outside for the summer – The roots will rot in a hurry if you do not.
