I think either name in the title of this post would be a fitting moniker for this Hoya. I am very excited to bring you news of this great plant. I am sitting in my computer room right now watching it snow through the window, and in that window, is H. calycina Stargazer with seven newly opened blooms just in time for Christmas. Now here is the exciting part of this clone of H. calycina: It blooms the first year from cutting! Actually more accurately mine bloomed six months from receiving the cutting from my good Hoya friend Julie in the UK. It took me 3 years to bloom the regular calycina and 6 months to bloom Stargazer – I guess you know which plant you want to try to obtain! Here is a photo taken about a week ago of the first bloom to open on the plant. I currently have seven blooms open, but have no time to take a new photo today. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.
