Hoya ilagiorum is a native of the Philippines that really lives up to the hype. I had seen photos of this Hoya for some time on the internet, and I new that I had to have one. I finally acquired a cutting just before it turned subzero in December of 2013 from Joni at SRQ Hoyas. It rooted quickly and grew well in semi-hydro. After growing well for a few months using hydroton and the semi-hydro method, the plant stopped growing and just sat there for some time. I finally switched the entire plant and root ball over to a conventional mix. After what seemed like a long wait, it started showing signs of life.
Finally Hoya ilagiorum slowly started to grow again, while I rather impatiently waited for a peduncle to appear. I had seen plants blooming Online that were much smaller than mine. My plant was huge, but no signs of blooming. Finally the plant decided to make up for lost time and put on several peduncles at once, and began to bloom its little heart out in the mid-summer of 2014. Since it bloomed the first time, it has now bloomed dozens of times and shows no sign of stopping anytime soon. Hoya ilagiorum is a must have!!!!!!!
