I have to confess that Hoya sp. Gunung Gading has been very difficult to grow for me and I have had to start it over a number of times. It is very susceptible to over watering.
Let’s Talk About Hoya sp. Gunung Gading
Hoya sp. Gunung Gading was discovered in Gunung Gading National Park in Sarawak, Borneo Island, Malaysia. It has some of the most decorative leaves in the finlaysonii complex of Hoyas.
Happy Halloween and Strange Doings For Hoya kanyakumariana
Happy Halloween everyone! I was looking at Hoya kanyakumariana the other day and found these buds, which is very unusual for this time of year. I thought that I would have no flowers on this plant in 2018, but I guess better late than never!
Hoya paulshirleyi and Hoya hanhiae Together For the First Time
Here is a photo of the two pink flowers together for no other reason than it is an interesting comparison photo.
Hoya paulshirleyi Flowering Away in the Basement Grow-tent
Hoya paulshirleyi didn’t flower much outside over the summer, but now that it is back in its grow-tent home it is back to it continually blooming ways! It flowers so much; I felt that I could sacrifice a peduncle worth of flowers.
Hoya hanhiae Light Yellow Turns Out to be Light Pink
I received this plant as a free cutting from Ric Morier, and it was supposed to be light yellow, but instead came out as light pink. Hoya hanhiae is a funny plant; I believe conditions have much to do with the final color of the flower.
Hoya bella Seedlings All Transplanted Up
It was a lot of work growing these plants out from seed, but I ended up with 3 nice pots out of it. Will I grow any more Hoya out from seed? I I think it would have to be a very unusual and rare Hoya for me to put the work in again.
Hoya bella Seedlings Finally Start Growing Well
It took a very long time but my H. bella that I started from my own seedpod have finally started to grow well. Here they are in their little 2 inch pots. Tomorrow I will show what they look like when I combine and transplant them into a larger pots.
Bedroom Hoyas (Final Room of the House)
These are the two Hoyas in the bedroom; my giant H. chinghungensis and a plant that is closely related to H.nummularioides that I got as a very small cutting from Christine Burton years ago.
Bathroom Hoyas
We have two bathrooms and there is a plant in each room. H. DS-70 on top and H. Rebecca on the bottom.
