Hoya caudata

Hoya caudata has some of the most wonderful leaves on a Hoya that I have seen.  It is a native of Thailand and Malaysia where it scrabbles over rocks in moist conditions.  The flowers are hairy and really cute, but the biggest reason to grow the plant is for the gorgeous leaves.  The flowers are realatively short lived 4-5 days for me, but will bloom multiple times from the same peduncle.

I received the plant in the summer of 2012, and it flowered in the spring of 2013.  I grew and flowered it under artificial lighting in a humid grow tent.  Hoya caudata is steady, but not rapid grower that makes a fine specimen.  The soil mix needs to be lightly moist most of the time, but do not over water, or it will stop the plant in its tracks! I would think that it would also work well in a terrarium.  I  give this plant a very high recommendation indeed!
