Hoya erythrostemma aff. sp. Sumatra NS07-004

Hoya erythrostemma aff. sp. Sumatra NS07-004 came as a cutting from AH Hoyas in May of 2018 and flowered in December of that year. It has barely grown, but managed a peduncle and a few flowers. This plant was small when I received it and has only grown one full size leaf, but has a new vine, and finally new leaves are on their way.

Hoya erythrostemma aff. sp. Sumatra NS07-004 carries Nathalie Simonsson accession number.  I don’t know for sure, but an educated guess would be that she discovered this Hoya in Sumatra in 2004. This Hoya reminds me a little bit of Hoya mindorensis, which is extremely difficult for me to grow because of its high heat and humidity requirements.  I will say though that this was a Hoya that wants to flower even at an extremely young age and might be worth picking up for that reason alone.
